This is story 2 in the series, adding an additional motivation program to use with the original Sebastian Sharp and the Case of the Missing Manuscript Teacher’s Kit.
Aunt Bernice has invited her niece and nephew to her at her musical mystery mansion, Misterioso Manor, to help solve this case, but they need your students’ help! Join Sebastian, Elise, Aunt Bernice, and her staff to track down one of history’s most famous composers using your knowledge of music to guide you through the clues.
It’s elementary, my dear Watson! Each student gets a character piece to stick on the game board. Students practice and complete goals set by the teacher to earn squares in the mansion on the giant game board (2 ft x 3 ft) hung in the studio.
Visiting each room only once, students must visit all 15 rooms/places in the mansion to collect clue cards. Each clue card tells the next part of the story and asks students to answer music history and theory questions. In addition, it gives them their next clue to solve the case.
Students track their clues (both answers to questions and measures of music they find) in their detective notebook, which doubles as their student assignment book.
Each student’s goal is to finish the game during the year. Because they choose their path in the game, students are not able to easily see who is in the lead. However, competitive students may be motivated to finish first. They will ask who is first or if anyone has finished, and teachers may add a competitive aspect to the game by awarding a prize for the top finishers.
Teacher and parent-approved! Both teachers and parents have noticed increased motivation and results with this practice motivation program!
Student Materials:
15 color clue cards and 8 suspect cards (order one set per student), an assignment book download (studio license) with answer pages, a place to track where students have been on the game board, and assignment pages.
Your students will be excited to move their character on the board and see their progress in this motivation program for piano lessons or any music student. Coordinates with Sebastian Sharp and the Case of the Missing Manuscript original teacher kit.
